Google buys Nest for $3.2 billion

Yet another milestone by Google, it buys the smart thermostat maker for $3.2 billion.

What made Google to acquire the smart thermostat maker? Does it really help Nest? The answer is yes. If we dig the past, Google was into a thermostat business called as energy sense, which was to be closed in 2011 after several attempts. Google wanted to gain access to the energy monitoring system  and nest is best known for its thermostat, especially the so called Nest Learning Thermostat, which learns the temperature preferences of the users which can save energy and smoke alarms that can keep the family safe. Nest wanted to increase the reach among the users and this acquisition will be a mutual benefit.

Google had also accquired Motorola Mobility two years before for $12.5 billion.Been said that, this means Google is taking more serious move towards hardware and software than just providing a search engine and online platform.

May be in the near future like whirlpool, LG we may also have loyal customers for Google when it comes to home automation.
